UK Brown: UK Open To New Sanctions Against Myanmar LONDON -(Dow Jones)- U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown reiterated Wednesday that his government would tighten sanctions against Myanmar over what he called the "sham trial" of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi. "At the last meeting of the European Council we sent a very powerful message that unless action is taken in Burma to free Aung San Suu Kyi, then we are prepared to take further sanctions against the regime," Brown said in the weekly question and answer session in parliament. Brown also called on U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to visit Myanmar.
